If you have very still water with strong reflections you might need to consider round-tripping to Photoshop to add the reflected sky over the water.Īdd the sky as a new layer, flip vertically and positionīlur the layer with a gaussian blur of around 10-20 It helps reflect the colour of the inserted sky into the scene and works well in situations where there are reflections in the water. Relight scene can be worth its weight in gold and can even be taken up to 100 in some cases. I tend to set a value of around 50 to help balance out the image. I love this feature of the Sky replacement tool, it goes a long way to making the replacement look more realistic IMO. Luminar 4 currently allows the inserted sky to be flipped which is helpful to align any light on the clouds with the direction of light on any subjects in your scene. A Pre-Dawn sky can look fairly ambiguous regarding the sun position. I try and take library images just before sunrise and avoid including the sun itself. It can look artificial and jarring if the light in the sky mismatches with the light in the scene. It may seem obvious but you should carefully consider the direction of light in your scene. Luminar 4 makes replacing a sky as easy as a couple of clicks of the mouse but to achieve realistic results your should consider making one or two tweaks.
